Hurrah for the first snowfall!!! I feel bad for the kiddies who're going to go trick-or-treating tomorrow night, but it really is nice that the weather is getting more normal for this time of year, and it's really good for getting the wildfires under control.

Now, if it would just clear up so I could watch the auroras....

I'm getting a tetanus shot this afternoon, a great thing for me, the crazy, clumsy, barefoot lady who hasn't had a booster in 12 years or so.

So. Who's coming with me?

I think this says it all.

Now, Bug, don't knock SpongeBob till you've seen him. He's actually quite sweet.

Other things people are going to nostalgia-ize and laugh at in ten years time:

Anything Donatella Versace

Tiny, dark, Hipster glasses frames

The word Hipster

Ugly, looks-like-it-was-made-by-a-learner-but-actually-made-in-a-factory crocheted or knitted scarves and hats

Herbal Essences commercials

CSI

Long, straight hair with a center part, razor cut at the bottom

Scruffy hipster boy hair

SUVs

Dave Matthews

Biore Pore Strips

oh, the list goes on and on....

Just cuz I want to join the owie! club.... I think I pulled a muscle in my shoulder at dance class on Tuesday, doing veil work. It's really bugging me.

Also bugging me: Spike is now on Angel, which till now has been one of the dumbest shows ever to hit the airwaves. Last night, I turn on the tube to find that it is an episode all about mister-cute-British-Billy-Idol-looking—and so my reception immediately goes out. Much running back and forth and playing with bunny ears ensued.

Must. Think. Of. Something. Brilliant. In. My. Three. Free. Minutes.

I'm still alive out here, um, and it's really, really warm for October.

A joke I just made up myself:

What's a pirate's favorite thing to knit?

A Booty, of course!

Arr ha ha ha.

There's a little bit of a lull right now, which is okay by me. My immediate supervisor, Ann, is working at home today because it was such a disaster in here yesterday AND SHE COULDN'T TAKE IT NO MORE!!--we've gotten new shelving, and it was noisy and messy and stuff. I treated myself to a piece of coffee cake at lunchtime. Such marvelous adventures as I have!

I think there should be a new Friendster called Paper Plate Friendster--what say, Bug?

Or Unkatunkster, fer all you Risley people.

Cuz I *used* to have real adventures, doncha know.

Have you ever noticed how much stained, weathered concrete sidewalks look like skin? If you let your eyes blur a bit, you get stretch marks, the shadows of veins, freckles, all sorts of things.

Anyhoo.

Work is: AAIiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeEEE!

Wait a minnit...!

Belly dance went great. I wanna be a professional! (Not a stripper, mind you, a dance teacher). And I will have a troupe called "Bad-Ass Belly Dance" and we will wear leather jackets. And breathe fire! Yeah!

Gorgeous fall weather here--I always feel so lonely when the days get short, though. I think it's that I expect coziness when I go home at night, and find dim lights and a chilly apartment instead. Still--it's nice that the leaves are turning. Lots of yellow, here in CO.

Over and out.

Vey! It's always cool to hate things, yup. But, dang, who really wants to be classed in the same group with Kid Rock?

Belly dance performance tonight. Must rush home tonight to get the black eyeliner, etc. on. Good fun--I don't actually like the performing or the dressing up, but I do love the dancing.

Ivy, Lord of the Dance! ("Oooh, did the other one die?")

Oi. Am I freaking out because of all the work? Is it because I haven't eaten? Am I just freaking because vacation was so fun and is rapidly getting so far away?

I held a baby at the airport, for a lady who was trying really hard to get her stroller folded up. He was surprisingly dense and not at all awful (also surprising). Also, I sat next to a Greek Orthodox priest on the shuttle ride home.

Everything is so totally surreal.

Fucking Republicans. Women-haters, the lot of them.

Dude. I can't believe that Beeman's gum has been acquired by Pfizer--and the jerks have no plans to make any more Black Jack. *Sigh*

I spoke with one of the Daves last night for a very long time, which was great! Yay Dave! but now I am very sleepy. I've been here for hours, and I haven't accomplished anything really.

I think I must've had nightmares last night--you know how, when you wake up, you're sometimes already in a mood? Yeah. Or it could be that I've been re-examining my life, and it sucks. No amount of knitting to fill the spare hours fixes that.

I'm tired of being the ugly-but-interesting girl.

My life. Excepting that it's yarn, all yarn.

Big Vest.

Wednesday, October 01, 2003

It does make me feel a little bit better that the Cubbies beat the Braves, of course.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

I want to cry. Pappy's vest is all finished, and it's beautiful, but I washed it on the delicate cycle in the washer in my building, and it stretched! A lot! I think that washer has it out for me, waaah! Even tossing it in the dryer, out of desperation, didn't get it completely back to size--it's 48 inches around now. He's 40. I guess I will just have to have him try it on--if it doesn't fit, we'll sew and cut up the sides.

Fuck. Fuck, fuckity fuck fuck.
